How we’ll place your ceramic dental crown

Hello DentalIcon
1

Identifying the problem tooth

At your first appointment our dentist will take x-rays of your teeth to confirm the extent of the damage and identify what tooth or teeth require ceramic crowns.
2

A handcrafted solution

Our dentist will then prepare the damaged tooth by shaving it down and taking an impression, which our off-site ceramicist will use to handcraft your new ceramic crown. We’ll then fit you with a temporary crown to protect the tooth.
3

Placing the crown

Within two-three weeks your new dental crown will have been custom-made, we’ll then welcome you back to our clinic, and affix it to your tooth. Your tooth is now protected and looking just like your normal, natural teeth. Smile away!

Your dental crown questions, answered

What is a dental crown?

IconIcon
It is a tooth-coloured dental ‘cap’ made of ceramic designed to protect a tooth, by fitting over the top of it, rather than extracting it.

What are dental crowns used for?

IconIcon
They are used to prevent further damage to a tooth that has been chipped, broken or decayed, and to restore a tooth’s appearance. Dental crowns are also used to further seal a tooth that’s undergone root canal treatment, or to address a cavity that cannot be protected with a large dental filling.

How much is a dental crown?

IconIcon
Our ceramic crowns start from $1,700 per tooth and can be paid for using our interest-free payment plans.

What is a dental crown bridge?

IconIcon
A dental crown bridge is used to literally ‘bridge’ the gap of a missing, or soon-to-be-removed tooth. Teeth on each side of the gap are given crowns, and are joined together by a prosthetic tooth (to fill the hole) on the one dental bridge.

Are there any disadvantages of dental crowns I should know about?

IconIcon
Rarely dental crowns might chip or dislodge (for which you should come see us immediately) and some people have reported hot/cold discomfort of the crowned tooth. If you have an allergic reaction to your newly placed crown, or experience any bleeding gums or signs of infection, please call us right away.
