What’s the clear aligner treatment process?

We first assess if this type of treatment will suit your teeth

During your initial consultation we’ll examine your teeth and discuss whether this type of orthodontic treatment will work for you. Typically, Angel Aligners can correct overbites, underbites, gappy teeth or crossbites – but you’ll need to book an appointment to find out.

Treatment plan confirmed, scans and plans

Once you’ve been approved for clear teeth aligners we’ll invite you back in to take comprehensive scans, so that your series of custom-fit Angel Aligners can be crafted to fit your teeth, exactly.

Start wearing your aligners

Once your clear aligners are designed, we’ll invite you into the clinic and advise you on how to get the most out of this type of treatment. You’ll need to wear them for at least 22 hours each day, removing them only for eating, drinking, brushing and photographs. We’ll then see you every 6-8 weeks for regular monitoring, and to fit you with your new set of aligners, which will be shaped closer to your dream smile.

What are clear aligners?

Dental clear aligners are designed to straighten your teeth progressively using customised plastic trays, which push teeth into their designs position, over time. They are popular due to their effectiveness and virtually invisible appearance, which appeals to adults and teenagers needing minor to moderate alignments.

How do they work?

Your custom-sized clear aligner (or aligners) needs to be worn 22 hours per day to be effective. Their size will change progressively throughout your treatment time, gently steering each individual tooth toward its desired position.

What dental issues do they fix?

Clear aligners are designed to address most of the same orthodontic issues traditional braces do, however it depends on the severity of the misalignment. They might also be used at a subsequent stage following metal braces or ceramic or linear braces, initially.

Clear aligners vs traditional braces – what’s best?

Clear aligners treat minor to moderate teeth misalignment issues, and are traditionally recommended for adults and mature teenagers, as their efficiency is wholly in the patient’s control. I.e wearing your aligners 22 hours per day is the commitment required for them to work, and given their removable nature, they can be misplaced quite easily. Braces on the other hand are fixed to the teeth with glue, used for more severe issues of misalignment and resulting orthodontic treatment.
